Information On Ballroom Dancing
The Line Of Dance (LOD) is the direction in which couples dance around the perimeter of the dance floor, which is always counterclockwise around the perimeter of the floor.
When dancing, the ball of the foot and toes should hit the floor first, the knees
should always be slightly bent, and the leg should move freely from the hip.
A "slow step" is a step which takes two beats of music, a "quick step" is a step
which takes one beat of music, and a "triple step" is three steps which take two
beats of music.
The man always starts with the left foot, and the woman always starts with the
right foot in ballroom dancing.
The timing of the Basic Step in the Fox Trot is slow-slow-quick-quick.  The timing of the music is 4/4 timing.
The shoulders never rock side to side or bounce in the Fox Trot.
The timing of the Jitterbug is slow-slow-quick-quick.  The timing of the music is
4/4 timing.
The shoulders rock side to side on the slow steps of the Jitterbug.
The timing of the music for the Waltz is always 3/4 or 6/8.
The timing of the Cha Cha is two quick steps, followed by a triple step.
